A Week-Long Project

We savored this last full week of school together. At the beginning of the week, Luca’s mama Martha came in to lead us in a turmeric-dyeing activity. We wrapped pieces of cloth in rubber bands, bathed them in a turmeric dye, rinsed them, and let them dry outdoors in the shade. Your children each brought a scarf home in their backpack this week! They were packed in bags with care instructions from Martha. Thank you, Luca and Martha!

We got to celebrate two birthdays at school this week! Cleo and Emilia have upcoming birthdays, and we celebrated that Cleo will soon turn 4 and Emilia will soon turn 5. Thank you to Cleo’s and Emilia’s families for coming in to share stories and treats!

Finally, we continued to work on our self-portraits, and played lots of games, including musical chairs and a beanbag-stacking game inspired by the book “Caps for Sale.” In preparation for the end of the year, we read “Don’t Worry, Little Crab” by Chris Haughton. This book is about a little crab who feels nervous about leaving his tide pool and visiting the ocean, but with a little help from a Very Big Crab, he takes the leap (and really enjoys it).

Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend, and we look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday!
